Description

Under the supervision of the Rehab Service Line Administrator and in accordance with Nursing Professional Standards, hospital policies and procedures, provides care to patients admitted to the Rehab Unit and assists in the managerial duties as assigned by the Rehab Service Line Director.

Qualifications
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum: Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia, 3 years of clinical experience, 1-2 years of charge nurse/supervisory experience
Desired: BSN, CRRN

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
Licensed currently to practice as a RN in the State of Georgia and BLS certification required.
Certified Rehab Nurse preferred.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Communication Skills:
Must possess good verbal communication skills; able to communicate effectively with all hospital contacts. Must become familiar with hospital computer system and equipment.

Computer/Typing Skills:
Must become familiar with hospital computer system. Prefer experience with electronic documentation systems and other software products (i.e. Word, Excel, etc).

Responsibilities:

• Ensures initial donor suitability and eligibility, product integrity, and the continued health of donors.
• Reviews donor medical histories. As needed, screens donors, takes medical histories and vital signs, and conducts HCT, protein, and other test. Determines initial suitability of donor to undergo plasmapheresis through verification of accumulated data and physical examination.
• Handles all levels of medical issues in the center and may review complex cases with higher-level Physician Substitute or Medical Director.
• Performs any needed injury, illness, or medication evaluations to ensure continued donor suitability.
• Ensures all donor medical information is complete and accurate prior to donation. Updates permanent donor files after screenings. Completes, reviews, and authorizes medical incident reports.
• Provides appropriate medical care to donors during plasmapheresis process if complications arise; contacts all necessary parties.
• Performs venipuncture on donors and assists Phlebotomists with difficult sticks.
• Assists with management and administration of Hepatitis Vaccine program.
• Responsible for donor awareness to potential hazards and administration of donor consent form.
• Assist with management and administration of employee counseling, testing, and follow-up of employee exposure to plasma or blood.
• Learns and maintains thorough familiarity and compliance with all state and federal regulations, FDA-approved Standard Operating Procedures Manual, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, and internal company procedures.
• Maintains familiarity with new products, technologies, and/or methods and conducts periodic staff meetings to review.
• Reports all unsafe situations or conditions to a center manager or Medical Director.
• Performs other duties as required.
