Description:
Provides medical office support  which includes patient workup (escorting to exam rooms, ECG, BP, medication check), chart preparation, handling phone calls, scheduling appointments, phlebotomy, routine lab testing. Performs technical work in the delivery of electrocardiographic testing services including electrocardiograms, exercise stress tests, Sestamibi stress tests, pharmacologic stress tests, telephonic arrhythmia monitoring, holter hookups and monitoring.   1.     Pulls charts for patients scheduled. Prepares chart by ensuring all relevant documentation is present. Maintains office flow by escorting patient into exam/procedure room and providing appropriate work-up. 2.     Confirms identity of patient and comprehensively explains procedures and patient instructions to allay apprehension and obtain written consent. 3.     Obtains and records patient clinical information, including history, medications and symptoms. Enters patient demographic information into computerized Treadmill and Holter systems. 4.     Performs venipuncture  for lab testing. Observing lab protocols, performs routine testing and preparation (urinalysis, prothrombin times) under supervision of the lab manager. Performs related clerical lab duties.                   5.   Prepares patient and attaches electrodes to areas of the body specified by       protocol, using proper consideration of the patient's condition and quality of the recording. Must be able to recognize alternate lead placement when       appropriate.                   6.   Using sterile technique sets up IV solutions for stress testing.                   7.   Observes and monitors both patient and tracings, alerting physicians       immediately of any significant arrhythmia, heart rates or changes in the       patient's condition during testing.                   8.   Analyzes arrhythmia using complex computer based equipment, providing       counts of arrhythmia, heart rates, and noting correlation with patient's       reported symptoms.                   9.   Provides verbal and written preliminary technician findings immediately to       physicians when any life-threatening arrhythmia is recorded.                   10. Processes tracings for interpretation by physician by editing, labeling and       attaching previous records. Makes necessary copies of all information and       distributes to appropriate personnel. 11.  Assists in the training and orientation of new employees.   12.  Performs related clerical duties such as filing, storing supplies, answering telephones. 13.  Maintains equipment in clean and proper working order and replenishes supplies as necessary. Performs minor adjustments such as changing lead wires. Notifies supervisor when repair services are required.
