Major Duties: The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is an advanced practice nurse with experience in Pediatrics.  The CNS is a senior member of the interdisciplinary team within the oncology program of care as well as within the leadership structure of nursing and patient care services and the Clinical Center.  The focus of the CNS role is on the development and implementation of clinical practice standards and care delivery innovations to improve the outcomes experienced by CC patients and assure the quality, relevance and integrity of research data collected in clinical studies conducted at the CC.  As the senior representative of a specialty practice area, the CNS is also responsible for assuring that practice at the CC is based on the most recent and valid research evidence, that the interdisciplinary team is apprised of developments within the clinical specialty, and that innovations and findings from work conducted at the CC are disseminated to the professional community at large. Qualifications: EDUCATION: degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant. REGISTRATION: Applicants must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or a territory of the United States. Applicants must submit a copy of their current license and/or registration.
