DCA provides the tools, highly trained staff and comprehensive renal care services that enable the nephrologist to focus on what is most important - caring for patients. We are currently seeking a Director of Nursing for our Hyattsville, MD facility. General responsibilities include: ? Interprets policies and procedures, philosophy and standards of care in the dialysis unit. ? Plans for overall staffing of the units, assuring coverage at all times. Formulates changes in staffing patterns and schedules as deemed appropriate. Coordinates scheduling of all hemodialysis. ? Organizes staff conferences and periodic nursing staff meetings/in-service programs. ? Maintains medical, nursing and technical records on all chronic hemodialysis patients. ? Assures adequate inventory of dialysis supplies and equipment essential to the operation of the unit. Maintains appropriate records and reports. ? Supervises the plans, direction, and coordination of the nursing care of all hemodialysis patients by the Charge Nurse. Supervises initial training of all new dialysis nurses and patient care technicians. Contributes to the orientation of medical, nursing, and other students. ? Coordinates proper use, care, and maintenance of dialysis machines and equipment by all nurses. ? Ensures appropriate medical and nursing care of all patients in the chronic hemodialysis program, peritoneal dialysis program, and acute dialysis (if assigned) program to the level of his/her competence. ? Oversees ongoing continuing education for dialysis unit staff. Assesses ability of an individual to function as a dialysis staff after initial training. Recommends formalized training and/or retraining as appropriate. Actively participates in staff education. Requirements ? Current license as an RN in the state of MD required ? Must have at least 12 months of experience in clinical nursing, and an additional 6 months experience in providing nursing care to patients in either the acute or chronic dialysis setting. ?
