Supervises, counsels, and evaluates performance of staff members in conjunction with the Administrator. ? Ensures appropriate orientation of new personnel to the unit. Supervises initial training of all new dialysis nurses and patient care technicians. Contributes to the orientation of medical, nursing, and other students. ? Coordinates proper use, care, and maintenance of dialysis machines and equipment by all nurses. ? Ensures appropriate medical and nursing care of all patients in the chronic hemodialysis program, peritoneal dialysis program, and acute dialysis (if assigned) program to the level of his/her competence. ? Oversees ongoing continuing education for dialysis unit staff. Assesses ability of an individual to function as a dialysis staff after initial training.
