With additional training may also be certified in administering certain intravenous medication/solutions. Performs technical Nursing procedures according to facility and state regulations after demonstration for competency, i.e., tracheotomy care, gastrostomy/jejunostomy care, wound care, breathing treatments. Must be competent in use of all medical equipment as ordered by physician. Documents and reports pertinent observations. Is able to recognize symptoms of illness and report accurately to RN and/or physician. Oversees the preparation and maintenance of records and reports. Communicates orally and in writing to other team members pertinent information. Documents according to facility policy. Assists physician in clinic setting, reporting signs and symptoms if illness. Transcribes written orders. Collects data for RN/physician and monitors for signs and symptoms of illness. Responds to emergency situations to ensure safety of individuals. Develops in-service training and educational programs to address areas identified during the QA process.
