Major Duties:
This position performs a variety of basic & specialized nursing care tasks involving standardized procedures requiring knowledge & consideration of specific patient conditions & treatments. Prepares patients for appointments, collects & records appropriate screening data; e.g., obtains brief history & necessary vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse and respirations). Prepares request for laboratory, radiology, & other diagnostic procedures as directed. Provides patient instructions for minor surgery, special procedures, & hospital admission. Sets up sterile fields & prepares equipment for complex examinations and procedures such as biopsies. Assists during examinations and minor surgical procedures, draping, positioning, and holding the patient to facilitate the health care provider's work. Monitors patients during post-procedure recovery period for complications. Selects, cleans, and prepares instruments for sterilization. Stocks, cleans and prepares examination rooms.

General Schedule
Experience with a body of standardized rules and procedures requiring considerable training and experience to carry out nursing care and resolve recurring problems. Experience with recognizing and properly using equipment, materials, and supplies in a large variety of diagnostic and treatment procedures for the purpose of understanding and carrying out assigned instructions. Experience with observing the patient's physical and emotional reactions to care, treatment, and procedures and recognizing abnormalities for the purpose of evaluating recovery and communicating with the physician staff. Experience with understanding human body structure, function, illnesses, diseases, treatments, and diagnostic procedures for the purpose of patient education and documentation. Experience with interpreting a physician's order and administer medications orally, parenterally (excluding intravenously), and rectally.

Current and unencumbered license to practice as a practical/vocational nurse specific to that state the employee is assigned to work by the Company. 2. External Description: ON CALL. Are you a Licensed Practical Nurse who is ready for the adventure of a lifetime? Providence Seward Medical and Care Center, a facility which provides quality health care to residents and visitors located in breathtaking Seward, Alaska, is currently seeking highly-qualified Licensed Practical Nurses to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the assessment, treatment, and care for patients of all ages including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric throughout the community of Seward. Candidates must have graduated of an accredited/approved school of Nursing and be currently licensed as a Practical Nurse in the State of Alaska. Preference will be given to those candidates who have at least six months of nursing experience in an health care facility. Must be proficient in medication administration. Acquired skill or ability to become proficient in IV therapy within scope of practice according to licensure. Able to clearly articulate and communicate ideas verbally and in writing. Supervision/leadership experience preferred.
