PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

· Performs general nursing procedures including but not limited to: measures and records vital signs; obtains and records medical history taking, medication administration/phone transfer of prescriptions to pharmacies, collects specimens, assists with examinations; assists physician with procedures specific to department.
· Plans care which includes goals and prioritized nursing approaches or measures derived from the nursing diagnosis. Renders patient care including but not limited to: nursing assessment of symptomatic patients and appropriate triage.
3. Implements strategies to provide for patient/client participation in health promotion, maintenance and restoration including patient education; follow-up and patient call-backs.
4. Meets safety standards.
· Assesses environment for hazards and removes or reports them.
· Provides for emergency patient care; infection control and bio-waste management.
5. Completes paperwork and manages information; fee ticket coding, medical records, reports, incident documentation, communication of information to other departments and agencies, use of computers.
6. Directs patient flow to maximize operational efficiency and meet needs of the patient; to include scheduling of office appointments, procedures and tests, hospital admissions, daily office activity.
7. Inventories and maintains supply levels to meet department needs.
· Manages material resources in a cost-conscience manner.
8. Complies with Clinic Policies and Procedures, as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
9. Communicates frequently and maintains cooperative relationship with supervisor and other employees as outlined in the Department Procedure Manual.
10. Meets quality and customer services standards.
· Provides telephone service as described in Patient Service Standards.
· Observes Nursing Service Standards for Patient Services.
11. Seeks educational resources and creates a learning experience to enhance and maintain current knowledge and skills for his or her continuing competence in nursing practice and individual professional growth.
· Sets professional goals with Patient Services Coordinator, at least annually and attains them.
· Maintains expertise by pursuing continuing education relevant to position (optional)
· Maintains hospital privileges (where required).
· Participates in optional professional activities: nursing committees, special projects, or other special activity.
12. Performs other related duties which may be inclusive, but not listed in job description and which change according to the patient service needs of the Department. This includes temporary re-assignment (floating) to other departments and participating in new employee orientation or training when requested.
13. Consistently meets Customer Service Standards.
14. Maintains all mandatory inservices.
15. Maintains compliance standards in accordance with the Compliance policies and the Code-of-Conduct. Reports compliance problems appropriately.
