The Cath Lab Supervisor must be a registered nurse and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Cardiac Cath/Specials Lab including administrative functions, personnel supervision, and maintenance of high quality exams. S/he will participate in routine and special examinations as needed. In addition, s/he will also be responsible for quality control, maintenance and good operating condition of departmental imaging / patient care equipment. S/he will assume director role as needed. Orders and stocks supplies as necessary. S/he collaborates with Physicians in planning, scheduling and providing quality patient care utilizing professional staff. Maintains staffing and expenses within budgetary goals. Utilizing advanced clinical skills, directly assist the EP physician in the performance of diagnostic EP, mapping and ablation procedures. 1. Supervises personnel on a daily basis, which includes but is not limited to preparation of work and on-call schedules, input for performance evaluations, recommendations and action for discipline, hiring and firing. 2. Provides the family with pre/post education, gathers the needed EP procedure supplies, and performs all EP equipment computer diagnostic checks. Ensures that the patient is properly connected to the EP stimulator cardiac lead system and the mapping/ablation reference device. Utilizes the EP-Med system to provide the physician with baseline measurements/threshold stimulation parameters. Directly assists the physician with EP mapping/ablation procedures using the ESI/Carto systems. 3. Operational responsibilities. § Expected to be an integral part of developing annual departmental budget. § Responsible for tracking to department's budgetary goals and recommending expense savings. § Maintain appropriate staff levels to match exam volumes. 4. Performs all functions related to radiographic diagnostic and invasive procedures for patients. This includes but is not limited to operation of digital cardiac imaging system, assisting physician in diagnostic and interventional cardiac/special imaging procedures, obtaining patient information, providing patient education and performing monitoring and case documentation. 5. Assists in arranging staffing for assigned unit on a long and short-term basis; adjusts appropriately according to unit specific staffing guidelines to maintain safe, appropriate care in a cost-effective manner. Assists in the development and revision of standards that define unit operation, staff performance and patient care activities. Assists with annual and ongoing performance appraisals on appropriate employees.
