(10) During examination and treatment of patients, positions and drapes the patient, selects instruments, sets up equipment and instruments, and hands instruments to physician as indicated. (11) Applies and removes bandages, binders, simple dressings, and hot/cold packs. (12) Administers and monitors effectiveness of medications given. (13) Assists the Medical Officer or Physician Assistant by preparing the patient for examination, treatment or procedure and assists in maintaining patient safety, privacy and the passing of instruments and the preparation of specimens for the lab. (14) Monitors status of patient while waiting for care as well as during treatment and post treatment to recognize changes in condition and report pertinent data of condition, medication and/or treatment. (15) Responds to emergency situations within the clinic by initiating appropriate BCLS action and, if ACLS certified, ACLS action. Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE). Our progressive and entrepreneur-spirited non-profit client seeks full - time Nurse Manager to work at a 183-bed nursing home in Washington, DC.  Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the total nursing management of the residents on a nursing unit.Take initiative to promote the professional growth of the nursing staff by providing opportunities for ongoing education, impromptu teaching, and encouraging staff to learn from each other.Maintain 100% compliance with Federal Regulations for resident care in a long term care facility.Participate in the prevention of the spread of infectious disease by observing infection control and OSHA and Universal Precaution Guidelines.Collaborate with coordinators for ongoing supervision of the unit 24-hours per day.Encourage staff to participate on committees and teams to enhance the delivery of resident care.Perform other job related duties as requested.Establishes annual unit goals and plans for the enhancement of resident are on a nursing unit in compliance with the facilities Continuous Quality Improvement plan as well as the system’s Strategic plan. Submits all unit reports and documentation in a timely fashion. Maintains compliance with unit budget for staffing and unit supplies. Anticipates unit needs and plans staffing patterns and supply usage accordingly. Maintains ongoing knowledge of resident care needs and establishes plans for nursing intervention and method of evaluation of care. Makes daily rounds to determine resident care and ensure resident plan of care accurately depicts residents’ needs. Conducts CNA and LPN interdisciplinary care conferences. Effectively delegates care delivery and evaluation to appropriate staff Requirements EducationGraduate from accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. Current license to practice as a RN in the District of Columbia. Current  CPR certification. SkillDemonstrated ability to supervise and work productively with others.  Ability to work with geriatric population. Use of exceptional interpersonal skills when dealing with geriatric patients.   Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills required. Able to multi-task, be flexible, maintain confidentiality, and function with ethics and integrity. Collaborate with Clinical Coordinators and other Department Heads in the management of staff and coordination of resident care. Demonstrated competence with situational management and conflict resolution. Must be able to work caringly with long-term care and geriatric patients.
