The Nurse Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of the dialysis facility including clinical services, support services and non-clinical services. Interacts with the acute dialysis facilities and serves as a liaison between the hospital and dialysis facility to ensure smooth transition of ESRD patient care during hospital admission and discharge. ? Maintains knowledge base of current pertinent patient care and staff development issues within DCI and the renal community at large. ? Assesses program needs and available resources for projects, educational programs, patient care-related issues, and unit specific tasks. ? Develops, supervises and participates in the orientation and training of new nursing personnel in conjunction with the Area Clinical Nurse Educator. ? Accountable for or delegates scheduling, staff in-services and educational programs by DCI in conjunction with the Area Clinical Nurse Educator. ? Assures provision of dialysis services consistent with regulations and requirements from Medicare, ESRD Network, and DCI and other regulatory agencies. (JCAHO if applicable). ? Knowledgeable of and implements infection control policies in accordance with DCI, CDC, and OSHA recommendations. ? Participates in the formation, annual review, revision, education and implementation of nursing policies and procedures, disaster plans, and emergency plans. ? Prepares patient care staff work schedules, and is accountable for scheduling DCI nursing personnel to ensure adequate delivery of patient care services on a daily basis. ? Is accountable for scheduling dialysis treatments, and coordinates with physicians and nursing staff to ensure accommodation of all patients requiring dialysis treatment in the outpatient and inpatient dialysis facilities. ? Approves and schedules transient treatments. ? A nurse responsible for nursing service must have at least 12 months of experience in clinical nursing and an additional 6 months experience in nursing care of the patient with permanent kidney failure; or, 18 months experience in nursing care of the patient on maintenance dialysis. Job Title: Registered Nurse (rn) Nurse Manager Medicine Surgical Telemetry Unit Company: Location: Louisville, KY Description: Nurse Manager - Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Vacancy exists in Nursing Service for a Nurse Manager, 6 South, medical/surgical/telemetry unit.  Shift is Monday-Friday 7:30am- 4:00pm, or as required to meet patient care needs.  Incumbent may be required to cover evenings, nights, weekends and/or holidays to provide coverage as needed.  The Nurse Manager for 6 South is an integral member of the nursing management team and is responsible for ensuring the highest standard of nursing care delivery.  The unit has 24 beds.  Up to 16 can be used for telemetry monitoring.  Average length of stay is five days.  The units also have negative airflow beds.  The staff is a mix of RNs, LPNs, and monitor techs/NAs.
