Department and Position Overview: Elliot is in the process of implementing an acute care surgery program in collaboration with Massachusetts General Hospital. Reporting to the Director of Patient Care Services, the incumbent will oversee Elliot’s Surgical Services and Sterile Processing Departments, encompassing 10 Operating Rooms, and a level 2 trauma center. Responsible for overseeing a staff of 60-65 FTE’s, including RN’s, Surgical Technologists, Surgical Assistants, and Front Office Scheduling staff, the individual will assess the departmental structure, set goals and a vision for the department, and engage, mentor, develop, and motivate staff to accomplish exciting initiatives, to enhance departmental efficiency, and to maximize productivity. The individual will establish and foster positive relationships with physicians and staff. The incumbent will support efforts surrounding turnaround time, and block time utilization for the OR to enhance efficiency. Due to high volume, you will explore the feasibility of expanding from 5 days/week OR staffing to 7 days/week. Additional responsibilities include adherence to all regulatory agency standards, i.e., JCAHO, OSHA, HIPPA, and other appropriate standards of care. The incumbent will also develop and maintain the departmental budget of ~$15 Million, through collaboration with the Director of Patient Care Services, and perform other tasks as assigned.
