Assists providers with patient examinations and procedures, including (but not limited to) surgical procedures, GYN exams, diagnostic studies, treatments. Operates and monitors functioning of equipment, hands instruments to the provider, assists with suctioning and hold patients, comforts patients. Monitors patient during and following procedures, looks for reactions and other visible complications, reacts to emergency situations, notifies the appropriate person in the event of a medical emergency. Applies and removes dressings under the direction of the provider. Conducts hearing, vision, breathing and EKG testing; records results in chart using calculations to determine medication dosage. Administer medications orally, rectally and by injection. Performs venipuncture, collects urine specimens, check urine. Handles all speciments using Universal Precautions. Completes Laboratory forms. Processes laboratory samples and ships to reference labs. Interacts with patients regarding clinical complaints for effective an immediate response and resloution. Refers to Practice Manager as appropriate.
Education: High School diploma or GED required.
Experience: One year related work experience in a medical office.

3. Assist in minor surgeries and procedures such as pap smears, suturing, dressing changes, catheterizations and casting. Practices aseptic and sterile techniques as needed

9. Call orders to pharmacies for medications under the supervision of the nurse or MD
10. Schedule appointments for patients for procedures, tests and consultations with other providers as requested by the doctor
11. Complete and process HMO referrals as needed.
12. Utilize the computer system to schedule appointments, obtain information to complete referrals and assist patients, providers and other parties as needed.
13. Answer the telephone, filing and record retrieval as needed.
14. Provide the patient with educational materials as requested by the provider. Instruct patients about medications diet and exercise.
15. Must be flexible able to perform multiple functions simultaneously.
