Overview

Presbyterian is seeking compassionate and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to join our inpatient care team. As a CNA , you will provide essential nursing care to our patients, ensuring their comfort and well-being. Your role is crucial in supporting our nursing staff and maintaining a high standard of patient care.

Performs specific patient care procedures (such as basic wound care and catheter maintenance) and tasks under the direction of the RN All procedures, duties, and tasks are to be completed under the patients care plan as ordered in conjunction with the physician.

Patient care is provided in the inpatient hospice setting.

Type of Opportunity: Full Time (0.9 FTE/36 hours per week)Work Schedule: 12 Hour Nights

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 1 year of direct patient care in a clinical setting is preferred.
  • Certified Nurse Aide-NM
  • BLS Certification is required at the time of hire.
Responsibilities
  • Works clinically under the direction of a registered nurse in the hospice inpatient setting.
  • Manage and maintain patient assignments to ensure ordered care is delivered timely while taking into account patient preference.
  • Collects and records vital signs, skin, bowel and bladder function, tolerance to activities, and other patient data. Reports any significant problems or changes in patient status to the inpatient Hospice RN.
  • Performs personal care and assists with activities of daily living such as personal hygiene (shaving, mouth care, foot care, peri-care, and bathing) and emotional support.
  • Assist with restorative aide duties for feeding patients and report on tolerance.
  • Assists with basic wound care and catheter maintenance, as ordered.
  • May assist the patient in replacing oxygen delivery devices, such as face mask or nasal cannula.
  • Monitors for safety to prevent patient falls due to oxygen tubing.
  • Assist patient with bed and commode transfers, and ambulation with or without equipment, including Hoyer lift.
  • Assist patient with prescribed exercises including range of motion (ROM).
  • Follows written treatment care plan as established by the team offering suggestions for modification. Actively participates in IDT and Case Conferences.
  • Reinforces teaching patient, family/caregivers personal care techniques including care of skin, repositioning, and transferring with patients/family following training by R.N. or therapist.
  • Documents care according to agency policy, regulations, and standards.
  • Provide simple meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, and respite care as ordered.
  • Assist with secretarial duties, as assigned.
  • Participates in agency continuous quality improvement activities as required.
  • Performs other functions as required.
