Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Instructor to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in nursing, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to developing the next generation of nursing assistants. The CNA Instructor will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction, guiding students through theoretical and practical aspects of the CNA program, and ensuring compliance with state regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Secure and maintain clinical agreements with local extended care facilities.
  • Keep up-to-date of all curriculum changes made by IDPH to meet all established guidelines and mandates and maintain an outstanding knowledge of the domain.
  • Secure and oversee fingerprinting and background check activities and follow up with all IDPH Web Portal entries, including updating student status following course completion.
  • Oversee and ensure KACC student registration for certification exam based upon C.N.A. Instructor approval.
  • Oversee and ensure KACC’s program meet KCC Dual Credit Standards; attend advisory meeting and maintain open communication to benefit the program.
  • Work with team to ensure adequate supplies in KACC lab and classroom environments and ensure purchase requisitions are made when needed.
    Maintain accurate records on all students, including, but not limited to attendance, schedules and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content.
  • Communicate effectively with C.N.A. Instructional team, students, parents and those affiliated with KACC’s C.N.A. program, including staff at clinical training facilities and prospective employers.
    Ensure a stimulating environment to encourage student participation, interpersonal skills development and concepts of good patient care.
  • Teach the course curriculum as outlined by IDPH standards.
  • Address any IDPH deficiencies by preparing Corrective Action Plans as required.
  • Assist KACC students in learning and refining their mandated 21 C.N.A. skills, both in the KACC Lab
  • Setting and while in attendance at the Clinical site
  • Actively participate in and take the lead to create and maintain a high standard of classroom management.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and KACC facilities.
  • Assess the achievement of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports to parents/guardians.
  • Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purpose outside the instructional day when required to do so under reasonable terms as directed by KACC principal.
  • Work with KACC office staff to ensure IDPH Documentation is complete within the timeframes established.
  • Attend faculty and staff meetings.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the C.N.A. Program Instructors.

Education, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois
  • Hold or eligible to hold a CTE Teacher’s License
  • Current or Eligible for IDPH Instructor Approval Code
  • Current basic life support (BLS) certification, CPR Trainer certificate.
  • Two years’ nursing experience and at least one year of experience in a long-
    term care facility services in the last five (5) years.
  • Have attended or attend course approved by IDPH to learn the methodology of teaching the course (Train the Trainer/Alzheimer’s Component).
  • Demonstrated leadership/managerial skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with young adults 16-19 years of age

  • Physician’s Statement certifying physical ability to perform assigned duties, including:

    • 2-hour increments without sitting
    • Climb stairs – in and out of bus throughout day
  • Salary Range: $42,000-$54,000
  • 180 Work Days Per Year
  • Time Off: 13 Sick Days, 4 Personal Days
  • Retirement Benefits: Employees are eligible for Teacher Retirement System (TRS) of Illinois
