JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for provision and administration of physical and occupational therapy treatments only under the direct supervision of the staff physical/occupational therapist. Rehabilitation technician assists with the restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical disability under direction of the supervising physical/occupational therapy professional staff. Rehabilitation technician assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while working with the families, guardians and care givers to assist for carryover of care.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Current BLS certification.

Minimum Work Experience

Zero or more years experience in Rehabilitation Therapy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Prepares and manages treatment area for patient use consistently.

Demonstrates competent communication with all patient populations and ages.

Communicates any changes in patient condition (physical or cognitive) to the supervising rehabilitation professional therapist, nursing personnel and other facility personnel as appropriate.

Demonstrates competency with therapy intervention modalities and equipment within supervision regulations as stated in the Occupational/Physical Therapy state regulations.

Establishes a safe therapy environment and operates equipment within standard guidelines.

Involves patient, family and team members in plan of care and provides information, teaching and education based on identified need.

Follows policy for consent for treatment, release of medical information and appropriate awareness of suspected abuse and take measures to document/report them accordingly.

Employee binder up to date with competency forms, TB skin test, mask fit test, BLS, and license.

Provides specific treatment only as directed by the staff Professionals while adhering to the professional standard of conducts.

Promotes a professional and positive image at all times with coworkers, patients, families and other departments.

Has met goal established for this year.

Consistently meets Productivity standard for your areas.

Supervision - Requires visual assistance only.

Minimal Assistance - Patient can perform 75% or more of physical activity; therapy staff performs 25% or less.

Moderate Assistance - Patient performs between 50% to 75% of the physical activity; therapy staff performs

between 25%-50% of the task.

Maximal Assistance - Patient can perform 25% or less of the physical activity; therapy staff performs 75% or more.

Total Assistance - Patient can not perform any of the physical activity; therapy staff performs 100% of the task.
