Presbyterian is seeking a Labor and Delivery/Mother-Baby RN to provide expert care throughout childbirth and postpartum recovery. In this role, you will oversee patient care, coordinate with healthcare teams, and ensure optimal outcomes for mothers and newborns. Responsibilities include patient education, informed consent guidance, and supporting families in newborn care. You will maintain clinical competency, ensure compliance with hospital policies, and collaborate on care plans. Strong communication, teamwork, and on-call support are essential, as well as supervising home health aides and addressing various patient needs. Type of Opportunity: Full Time (36 hours)
Work Schedule: 12hr Nights

This position is eligible for the Northern New Mexico differential of $4.00 per hour. (This differential may be adjusted or discontinued based on business requirements.)

Responsibilities:
  • Provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting individual patient needs, actions taken and patient responses

  • Coordinates patient care through collaboration with the patient/family and healthcare team

  • Performs assessments per unit standards and documents on appropriate data base/assessment flow sheet

  • Initiates, utilizes and documents appropriate protocols and standards of care

  • Administers medication and treatments as prescribed by physician or protocols and documents according to policy

  • Identifies and meets patient and family learning and discharge needs on admission and throughout episode of care

  • Evaluates patient progression toward outcomes per unit standards and documents through EOSS

  • Performs competently in emergency situations

  • Delegates or assigns aspects of patient care to healthcare team members commensurate with their validated competency

  • Assumes responsibility for clinical supervision of LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel

  • Provides leadership through communication about and validation of patient care

  • Assists with procedures, treatments, surgical techniques or assigns appropriately

  • Completes patient population/age-specific/procedure and protocol education and competency testing per unit standards

  • Demonstrates competency in required psychomotor skills

  • Assists in orientation of new staff or students, and serves as a resource person and role model

  • Assumes professional responsibility for current nursing structure and clinical standards of care

  • Incorporates PHS mission (VVPS) in care-giving activities

  • Supports DON philosophies of shared governance and models of care delivery

  • Assumes other leadership roles (eg, relief charge nurse) as required by the department

  • Participates in in-service training including age-specific care and mandatory yearly updates like BLS, safety, infection control, and TB training

  • Participates in unit/department governance

  • Adheres to PHS dress code and displays ID badge

  • Documents continuing education

  • Maintains positive communication and relationships with patients, peers, and healthcare team members

  • Participates in quality improvement activities

  • Maintains punctual and reliable attendance record

  • Completes mandatory inservices, competencies, and licensure requirements on time

  • Adheres to safety and equipment policies

Qualifications:
  • ADN/BSN/MSN
  • NM State or Multistate License
  • BLS Requires at Time of Hire
