Your role and responsibilities
We are seeking a versatile Platform & Automation Engineer/Architect to design, implement, and support enterprise-grade, cloud-native platforms.
This consulting-style role will focus on delivering OpenShift Virtualization engagements, including migrating VMware estates to Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization, as well as general OpenShift and Ansible automation projects. You will utilize and architect cloud solutions and relevant DevOps automation practices. Ideal candidates will balance deep technical expertise with client-facing skills to lead workshops, lead technical delivery, and transfer knowledge to customer teams.
Key Responsibilities:
OpenShift Virtualization Delivery
o Architect and execute migrations from VMware vSphere into OpenShift Virtualization clusters.
o Design cluster topologies (control plane, worker, virtualization nodes) and validate performance, high availability, and disaster recovery.
Cluster Administration & Multi-Cluster Management
o Install, configure, and administer OpenShift clusters at scale.
o Implement Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management (ACM) or equivalent tooling to govern policies, application lifecycle, and observability across multiple clusters.
Infrastructure Automation
o Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and automation workflowsintegrating with Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) where applicable.
o Automate configuration drift detection, patching, and compliance checks.
o Architect cloud solutions (AWS, AZURE), Terraform IaC
DevOps & CI/CD Pipelines
o Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Tekton, or similar platforms.
o Integrate testing, security scanning, and deployment stages to achieve end-to-end delivery automation.
GitOps Implementation
o Design and operate GitOps workflows with Argo CD (or Flux) for continuous delivery of platform and workloads.
o Establish repository structures, RBAC controls, and image promotion processes.
Consulting & Knowledge Transfer
o Lead technical workshops and training sessions for customer engineering teams.
o Provide architecture reviews, best-practice advisories, and post-implementation support.

OpenShift Expertise
o Hands-on administration of OpenShift clusters beyond basic application hosting.
o Strong understanding of Operators, cluster networking, storage, and security primitives.
o Strong experience with general Kubernetes may be considered in lieu of OpenShift.
Multi-Cluster Governance
o Practical experience with ACM or similar solutions for managing fleet-wide policies, application rollouts, and observability.
Ansible Automation
o Proven ability to author complex playbooks and roles; experience integrating with Ansible Tower/AAP.
DevOps Toolchains
o Proficiency in designing and operating pipelines in modern cloud native toolsets, such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Tekton.
GitOps Principles
o Expertise with Argo CD; familiarity with Flux as an alternative.
Infrastructure-as-Code
o Experience with Terraform, Helm charts, and related IaC/CaC tooling.
Consulting & Leadership
o Excellent client engagement, presentation, and workshop-facilitation skills.
o Demonstrated technical leadership on multi-disciplinary projects.
Preferred technical and professional experience
Cloud & Scripting
o Certifications such as RHCE, AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator.
o Programming/scripting in Python, Go, Bash, React. Background in Software Development
Virtualization & VMware
o Solid background in VMware vSphere administration; integration of hypervisor platforms into container environments.
Observability
o Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or Datadog for monitoring and logging.
Developer Experience (DevEx)
o Exposure to developer portals (e.g., Backstage) and DevEx best practices.
AI-Driven Automation
o Knowledge of AI/ML tooling in development workflows (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT integrations).
