Under general direction, plans, develops, coordinates, and supervises the Districts accounting operations and financial staff development programs. This position provides training and technical support to site and department accounting staff, including onboarding of new employees and coverage of accounting functions during staff absences. The incumbent performs advanced professional accounting duties and leads training initiatives to improve efficiency, compliance, and service delivery across departments and school sites.

-Provides district-wide support for coverage of accounting functions during vacancies or absences, including ASB, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger operations.
-Develops, implements, and delivers training programs and workshops for classified accounting staff, including onboarding new hires and coaching existing personnel.
-Conducts needs assessments and develops individualized and group training plans based on District priorities and site/department needs.
-Develops instructional materials, manuals, handbooks, and online resources for use in training and operational reference.
-Serves as a liaison between school sites, departments, and the Business Services office to ensure consistency and compliance in accounting practices.
-Performs professional accounting work, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, financial reporting, budget development, and audit support.
-Monitors and evaluates internal controls, and provides guidance on fiscal policies and procedures.
-Leads and/or participates in implementation of accounting software, fiscal reporting tools, and systems training.
-Reviews and supports the preparation and maintenance of ASB financials and ensures conformance with District and state requirements.
-Provides consultation to managers and staff on accounting procedures, fiscal compliance, and best practices.
-Attends meetings and workshops to remain current on fiscal and operational practices, regulations, and training methodologies.
-May participate in or lead special projects, process improvements, or audit reviews.
-Drive a personal vehicle to attend meetings, training sessions, and conduct work.
-Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting
-Standards Board (GASB) guidelines.

Employment Standards

Education:
Graduation from a recognized four-year college or university with a major in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field.

Experience:
Four years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience, including at least two years in a lead or supervisory role. Experience in public education or governmental accounting and staff training is preferred.

License or Certificate:
Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license. Ability to be insured and maintain vehicle liability insurance for travel between sites.
