SIM Technician and Lab Coordinator, Nursing Undergraduate Programs

The ETSU College of Nursing invites applications for a full-time Technician/Lab Coordinator for the Undergraduate Programs Simulation Lab.

The Simulation Technician/Lab Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of simulation and skill lab activities, providing training and educational support to faculty and students. This role ensures the effective use of lab technologies, manages equipment and supplies, coordinates scheduling, and maintains accurate records to support a high-quality learning environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of standard office computer software.
  • Knowledge of technologies used for simulation/lab including: electrical/technical AV, virtual reality, manikins, and other technologies used for simulation/lab activities.
  • Knowledge of current simulation standards for best practice as defined by nationally recognized organizations such as INACSL, SSiH and others.
  • Knowledge of current healthcare practices, including current technologies.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong organizational skills with the ability to manage schedules.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and ability to produce reports.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including potential for some weekend days.
  • Ability to travel.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in nursing or a related field (healthcare, education, engineering, bioengineering, information technology, etc.) or equivalent experience.
  • One (1) year of experience in healthcare simulation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field (healthcare, education, engineering, bioengineering, information technology, etc.) or equivalent experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience in healthcare simulation.
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) and/or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification.
  • Experience in a clinical or educational setting, preferably nursing or medical education.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and simulation software.
