Summary
The Medical Assistant works as a member of the Psychiatry team to assist prescribers with delivering quality service and maintaining a safe environment for all clients. The Medical Assistant helps to facilitate referrals for clients to community providers and other services the provider may think is necessary.
SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday / 7:30a-4p, with travel to our Fall River office located on Osborn Street at least one day per week

Job Responsibilities & Essential Functions
Provide daily prescriber set-up of charts and appointments, including all relevant information prior to initial evaluations
Schedule diagnostic testing as requested by prescribers (e.g., lab, EKG, sleep study, neurologists, etc.) and obtain/provide results to prescribers by the next visit
Helps to facilitate referrals to community and states agencies as requested by prescribers
Must be able to read and interpret lab results and be able to identify and relay any important information to the nurse and med provider
Assist with monitoring documentation as well as billing policies and procedures as determined by insurance
Complete prior authorizations for medications and communicate insurance changes that may impact prior authorizations to prescribers
Notify and assist prescribers with medication refill requests
Provide assistance and coordination for any outside correspondence with prescribers including school day camp, medical orders, utility letters, medical necessity, medical affidavits, etc.
Coordinate schedule for all drug reps at supervisor?s discretion
Operate as a liaison between prescribers and clinicians, schools, clients, and outside providers regarding client care
Triage phone calls and messages as indicated
Participate in independent education and training opportunities
Participate in team meetings
Ensure clinical and medical staff receive optimal support to meet client needs
Ensure effective systems that meet client needs in an ethical, caring, and cost-effective manner
Maintain regular and timely attendance
Maintain a level of professionalism suitable in a healthcare facility
Possess excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
Ensure effective communication systems for medical, clinical, and administrative functions
Maintain a positive attitude and working relationship with agency staff, supervisors, clients, and community contacts
