The Certified Medical Assistant provides clinical support to the physician and mid-level providers. The Certified Medical Assistant provides instructions to patients as directed by the providers. The Certified Medical Assistant is also responsible for compliance with all OSHA/CLIA and HIPAA regulations and ensuring completion of all duties vital to business operations. The Certified Medical Assistant is a highly visible position that is always responsible for creating a positive impression with patients, family members, and other visitors to the office. The Certified Medical Assistant is a positive team player that promotes a culture of inclusion and participation.

Required Education and Experience

High School degree or equivalent

CMA or RMA certification

Phlebotomy Certification or successful completion of phlebotomy checklist within 6 months of hire

Valid driver s license, reliable operating transportation, and proof of current auto insurance

Preferred Education and Experience

1+ years experience in an outpatient medical office setting

Bachelor s or Associate s degree

Essential Functions

Ensure completion of all forms vital to the revenue cycle (i.e., verification/clarification of orders, waivers for non-covered services, encounter form)

Provide instructions to patient under direction of the provider

Ensure complete and accurate information in the patient chart

Clean and disinfect exam rooms

Ensure compliance with OSHA, CLIA and HIPAA requirements

Assist with completion of patient requests

Manage referral process, outpatient test scheduling and precertification

Manage medication prior-authorizations

Interact with billing office as needed to resolve patient issues

Provide patient with good customer service

Document in chart and EHR the appropriate patient history and prepare patient for session

Conduct urine drug screens and phlebotomy for blood specimen collection as required

Complete prior authorizations and obtain physical and lab exams as required

Perform medical Point of Care testing following established policy and procedures

Administer oral and injectable medications per orders from the physician and mid-level providers following established medication administration policy and procedures
