Job Summary
Join our dynamic emergency care team as a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in emergency room services. Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories to determine acuity levels and prioritize care.
Administer medications and treatments such as IV infusions, suturing, and medication administration with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
Utilize advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks to document patient information accurately and efficiently.
Manage airway interventions, ventilator support, and acute pain management strategies for critically ill patients.
Conduct diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing, radiology procedures like CT scans, and other diagnostic tests such as sonography.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and coordination of post-acute care including hospice & palliative medicine or long-term care services.
Demonstrate proficiency in triage procedures to rapidly identify life-threatening conditions and initiate immediate interventions aligned with Level I or Level II trauma center standards.
Skills
Extensive experience in emergency medicine with a strong understanding of trauma medicine and critical care protocols.
Proficiency in advanced nursing skills such as IV insertion, catheterization (including Foley and other specialized catheters), sterile technique, and aseptic procedures.
Knowledge of ICD-10/ICD-9 coding for accurate documentation and billing processes; familiarity with CPT coding is a plus.
Skilled in patient assessment techniques involving physiology knowledge, anatomy understanding, and diagnostic evaluation methods.
Ability to operate complex medical equipment including ventilators, monitors for vital signs, and laboratory analyzers; experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner is highly desirable.
Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
Strong communication skills for effective patient education on pain management, nutrition, wound care (including ostomy), and medication administration.
Familiarity with infection control practices and infectious disease care standards aligned with NCQA standards; experience in hospital medicine or urgent care settings is advantageous.
