What You'll Do

  • Provide overall leadership and operational oversight for pediatric inpatient and/or outpatient units.
  • Direct daily clinical operations to ensure safe, high-quality, family-centered patient care.
  • Supervise, coach, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff, charge nurses, and support personnel.
  • Manage staffing schedules, productivity, and workforce planning to ensure appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios.
  • Promote compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards, including Joint Commission requirements.
  • Monitor patient outcomes, quality metrics, patient satisfaction scores, and safety indicators.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives focused on pediatric patient care, safety, and clinical outcomes.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, case managers, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Oversee departmental budgets, resource utilization, supply management, and fiscal performance.
  • Recruit, onboard, retain, and develop nursing talent to support workforce stability and engagement.
  • Ensure staff competency through ongoing education, training, certifications, and professional development.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, diversity, inclusion, and employee engagement.
  • Manage performance improvement plans, employee relations issues, and corrective actions when necessary.
  • Support evidence-based practice initiatives and implementation of pediatric care best practices.
  • Coordinate patient throughput, admissions, discharges, and bed management activities.
  • Respond to patient, family, and staff concerns and facilitate service recovery when needed.
  • Lead emergency preparedness efforts and ensure readiness for pediatric emergencies and critical events.

What We're Looking For

  • Education: 4 Year / Bachelor's degree , required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
    • Graduate Degree, preferred.
  • Experience: Two years demonstrated leadership experience, preferred.
    • Three years clinical RN experience in an acute care setting, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
    • NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, required.
    • Board certification in area of practice, preferred.
  • Additional Skills (required): Understands and applies: current and future trends/practice in area of responsibility; regulatory and governing standards, policies and procedures; information systems and software used in area of responsibility; equipment used in performing assigned duties; application of safety and infection control policies and procedures; skills in interviewing and selection process; understanding of budgeting, staffing, payroll and purchasing processes; implementation of competency, feedback, development and progressive discipline processes; teambuilding, conflict management, and interpersonal relationship skills; principles of adult learning and teaching methods/models; decision making, project leadership and consultation, delegation and communication skills; customer needs and expectations and knowledge for improvement to exceed customer expectations; principles of change management.
