Salary: The previously determined range for this position was $40.08/hr to $91.37/hr*. The final rate offered will be determined by the collective bargaining agreement, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a rate at or near the top of the full range for a position.
This position requires Illinois residency within 180 days of the hire date.

Position Summary
The Clinical Nursing Consultant II will typically develop and implement nursing educational programs for nursing service personnel in a clinical service. The Clinical Nurse Consultant II is accountable for facilitating the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and Relationship-Based Care model as the framework. The Clinical Nurse Consultant II provides patient care and consultation, coordinates the educational development of staff members and acts as a role model in clinical practice. The CNCII strives to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice Relationship Based Care and standards of nursing excellence into clinical practice. Through therapeutic relationships with patients, families, self and colleagues, the Clinical Nurse Consultant II participates in monitoring, developing, and evaluating nursing practice while fulfilling unit and organizational goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- MSN (or higher) required of an accredited nursing program.
- Eligibility for registration with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
- Two (2) years of nursing experience in the particular branch of service to which assigned, one (1) year of which involved work comparable to a Clinical Nursing Consultant I.
- Current BLS/CPR and/or other required unit specific certifications
- Current advanced cardiac life support, or within 6 months of hire for main hospital.
- Nationally certified through ANCC approved certifier, or within 6 months of hire in an area relevant to their clinical area.
- Ability to select appropriate teaching methods based upon the educational and experience backgrounds of employees.
- Effective communication skills (oral and written) that facilitate therapeutic relationships between patients, family, and health care providers
- Intermediate computer skills with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on-the-job training
- Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills and work history required.
