QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medial Assistant (RMA) in good standing.
  • Minimum of an Associates' Degree related to the subject matter and skills being taught
  • A minimum of four years experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Initial licensure as a Medical Assistant Instructor
  • Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable alternative qualifications

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of the Technical Institute

JOB GOALS:

Daily management of program. Including, but not limited to maintaining departmental regulatory compliance standards, managing within department budget, monitor and maintain program outcomes, developing and updating curriculum, teaching courses within the program, and advising program students regarding academic progress.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Confirm completion of student paperwork, contracts, CORIs, and medical information.
  • Supervise department functions including interviewing students for admission, developing program standards, and developing program course guides and marketing materials.
  • Assist students with registration, academic advice, and core course specific transcript evaluation.
  • Select, approve, and monitor externship/practicum sites and evaluate final programs.
  • Shall provide orientation for on-site Supervisors.
  • Shall coordinate and provide oversight of the externship/practicum experience.
  • Coordinate the assignment of students to externship/practicum sites
  • Provide on-site assessment of the student experience and the quality of the learning opportunities at least once during each term students are assigned to an Externship/Practicum site.
  • Develop departmental budgets.
  • Monitor and maintain acceptable level of student outcomes, including retention, certification, and placement.
  • Plan, develop, implement, and maintain program curriculum.
  • Work with the Director of Technical Institute to resolve student concerns.
  • Evaluate and provide student feedback on ongoing basis.
  • Maintain currency of program curriculum, and equipment.
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings.
  • Develop and implement best teaching practices.
  • Arrange for and attend advisory board meetings twice a year.
  • Facilitate community contact for externship programs and showcase opportunities for students.
  • Oversee the program, including externship and didactic training.
  • Actively engage in retention activities including documented communication with both students and administration regarding attendance and progress.
  • Provide annual documentation of continuing professional growth.
  • Meet with and counsel students in regards to Satisfactory Academic Progress.
  • Prepare students for certification examinations.
  • Work in conjunction with the Student Services Advisor to place students into employment as Medical Assistants or the equivalent at the conclusion of the program.
  • Attend school in service workshops and school-wide faculty meetings.
  • Manage special projects as formally assigned by the Director of the Technical Institute (including, but not limited to, the organization and posting of student work for display, assistance with orientation programs and open houses, assistance with accreditation preparation).
  • All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
