The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities is seeking a highly organized, clinically skilled, and collaborative Psychiatric/DD Nurse Manager to support statewide healthcare operations, nursing compliance activities, and interdisciplinary coordination efforts for individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs.

This position provides operational nursing leadership and administrative support related to healthcare services, regulatory compliance, survey readiness, quality improvement initiatives, contract coordination, and nursing operations across agency programs and service areas.

The ideal candidate will possess strong psychiatric and developmental disabilities nursing knowledge, experience with healthcare compliance and quality assurance processes, and the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, providers, and agency leadership.

What You Will Do

Nursing Operations & Clinical Coordination

  • Assist Directors of Nursing and nursing leadership with nursing operations, clinical coordination, and healthcare administrative functions.
  • Provide operational support related to admissions reviews, chart reviews, ICD-10 coding, prior authorizations, pharmacy coordination, and follow-up activities.
  • Review and monitor nursing documentation, Electronic Health Record (EHR) processes, clinical records, and healthcare compliance requirements to support quality patient care and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with implementation and interpretation of nursing-related policies, procedures, rules, and operational guidance.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, medical providers, pharmacy staff, and program areas to support continuity of care and healthcare operations.
  • Provide supplemental operational nursing administrative support during staffing shortages or other operational needs.

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Assist with survey readiness activities, mock surveys, corrective action plans (CAPs), follow-up monitoring activities, and review of weekly Major Unusual Incidents (MUIs).
  • Support development, implementation, and review of policies, procedures, standards, and operational practices to ensure compliance with federal, state, Medicaid, ICF/IID, and agency requirements.
  • Evaluate healthcare and nursing practices to identify operational risks, documentation deficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance related to healthcare surveys, nursing standards, documentation expectations, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Collaborate with leadership, quality assurance staff, and interdisciplinary teams regarding healthcare compliance initiatives and corrective action activities.

Operational Support & Interdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Assist with contract coordination activities including Knowledge Services postings, time approvals, contract documentation routing, procurement coordination, internal contract support activities, and expenditure tracking.
  • Work collaboratively with EHR teams, programming staff, procurement staff, HR, pharmacy providers, and leadership to support operational initiatives and healthcare-related projects.
  • Assist with development and delivery of nursing-related training, guidance materials, and operational support resources.
  • Provide follow-up support and technical assistance related to operational concerns, compliance activities, and nursing support needs.
  • Participate in meetings, workgroups, committees, and interdisciplinary planning activities related to healthcare operations and agency initiatives.

This position will assist all 8 developmental centers throughout Ohio. The reporting location will be based on the geographical location of the candidate.

Requires current license as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Revised Code; 36 months experience in psychiatric nursing or delivery of nursing services to persons with developmental disabilities; completion of undergraduate core program in nursing; 18 months training or 18 months experience in supervision; 18 months training or 18 months experience in management; 12 months training or 12 months experience in counseling; 12 months training or 12 months experience in public relations.

Or equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience requirements, but not for the mandated licensure.

Preferred Qualifications: BSN, Nursing Data Abstraction, Quality Assurance, Infection Control Practices, Nurse Planner experience, Experience in writing CEs for education, and Scheduling
