Role Description:
The LPN/RN Floor Supervisor is responsible and accountable for the oversight and efficient operation of a specific floor. The Floor Supervisor assures the highest possible level of resident care within the scope of the Missouri Nurse Practice Act, along with accepted standards of resident care.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Provides nursing leadership over the nursing care team for assigned floor
Consults regularly with the Director of Nursing regarding issues impacting floor operations
Ensures facility standards, policies, and procedures are followed
Provides staff education and re-education when needed
Assists with employee issues and disciplinary actions
Ensures proper orientation of new employees
Assists with conflict resolution involving staff and families
Conducts in-services and helps communicate facility employee information
Monitors floor compliance with State and Federal regulations
Provides education and re-education regarding compliance standards
Completes facility audits as assigned
Participates in QAPI/QI programs and initiatives
Assists with Care Plan updates
Ensures all documentation is completed by charge nurses, CMTs, and CNAs
Reviews admission orders for completion and accuracy
Performs additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Current Missouri RN or LPN license in good standing
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Long-term care and/or gerontological nursing experience preferred
Continuing education or special preparation in long-term care preferred
Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
Previous supervisor experience preferred
Physical & Sensory Requirements:
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
Must possess sight and hearing senses, with or without prosthetics, sufficient to perform job duties
Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability
Must be able to lift, push, pull, or move equipment and supplies exceeding 50 pounds
Must be able to lift, carry, stand, bend, squat, crawl, reach, and kneel for sustained periods using proper body mechanics
Working Conditions:
Exposure to body fluids, infections, odors, and resident behaviors
May be subject to hostile or emotionally distressed residents, family members, and staff
Exposure Category:
CATEGORY I: Occupational exposure to blood and body fluids is likely. Appropriate protective equipment and infection control procedures must be followed at all times.
