Lakeshore Womens Specialists is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our busy GYN Only practice in Mooresville, NC. Position Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting providers in delivering high-quality patient care. Responsibilities include patient intake, assisting with clinical procedures, maintaining accurate medical records, coordinating patient care, and ensuring efficient clinical operations throughout the office.
Schedule:
Monday Thursday: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM 2:30 PM (Rotating Fridays off)
Clinical Duties:
Room patients and obtain/document
Vital signs
Medical history
Chief complaints
Health risk factors
Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
Assist providers with in-office procedures and surgical setup
Administer injections and medications as directed by providers
Perform specimen collection and handling, including urine and vaginal specimens
Provide wound care, dressing changes, and suture removal as needed
Verify prescriptions per physician orders
Administrative & Patient Care Duties
Maintain accurate and complete electronic medical records (EMR)
Obtain and manage lab results, imaging reports, referrals, and hospital records
Schedule appointments and coordinate patient follow-up care
Complete forms, requisitions, and documentation accurately and efficiently
Ensure patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times
Office & Team Responsibilities
Clean and prepare exam rooms between patients following infection control protocols
Restock and organize clinical supplies and equipment
Assist with coverage during staff absences
Maintain professional, respectful, and positive communication with patients, providers, and coworkers
Participate in quality improvement and patient care initiatives
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications Required:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA)
Current CPR/BLS certification
High school diploma or GED
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
Minimum 1 year of recent medical assistant experience or completed externship in a medical office
Experience with:
Vital signs
Injections
Venipuncture
EMR systems
Preferred:
OB/GYN experience or familiarity with womens health terminology (preferred but not mandatory willing to train the right person)
Experience using Athena EMR/Athenahealth is a strong plus
Strong multitasking and organizational skills
Excellent communication and patient service skills
