Position Summary
As a Nurse Manager, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Coordinating and supervising all nursing activities as identified in Wisconsin Statutes Chapter 441 (N10 Wis. Adm. Code), ANA Standards of Practice, and Department, Division, Institute, and unit policies in the provision of holistic care for the psychiatric patients on designated patient units.
- Applying principles of management in supervision of nursing staff assigned to the unit.
- Assessing learning needs and arranging for continual education or growth and development for nursing staff, patients, and self.
- Managing and supervising the unit on a 24-hour basis.
- Overseeing overall care and treatment delivery including identification of patient care needs, developing and supervising nursing plans of care, identifying patient care delivery challenges and possible solutions in coordination with the unit provider.
Salary Information
The starting pay is between $60.24 and $64.93 per hour (approximately between $125,200 and $135,000 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as a Nursing Supervisor and is in pay schedule and range 50/11.
Job Details
All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to complete a pre-employment health assessment including a TB screen prior to their start date which will be administered by WMHI or medical personnel approved by the facility.
DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. DHS is not an E-Verify employer nor a STEM-OPT eligible employer.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:
Must be licensed or eligible to be licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Wisconsin (WI). Eligible includes being currently registered as a professional nurse in another state and eligible to obtain licensure in WI (must be licensed in WI upon hire).
Experience as a lead worker and monitoring the work of other nursing staff.
Experience working with a multidisciplinary team in an inpatient setting.
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
- Experience in a formal supervisory position over nursing staff.
- Experience participating in or leading quality improvement activities.
- Experience working with a psychiatric patient population in a secured setting.
