SUMMARY
The Acute Registered Nurse provides acute dialysis care and trement to pients within a hospital environment. This position performs duties as assigned by the Charge Nurse or Acute Manager, including assisting and supervising Pient Care Technicians and Licensed Vocional Nurses. Acute nurses may report directly to an Acute Manager, Administror or the first line of regional operional management which may be an Area Director, Regional Director, or Vice President of Operions, depending on the region/demographics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties and tasks may be assigned.
GROWTH
Assist with clinical and operional processes to improve pient health and minimize hospitalizions and rehospitalizion.
Ensure pient and trement charge informion and other reled da are accure and submitted appropriely.
Demonstre effective use of supplies and staff labor hours.
May participe in inventory management, including end-of-month inventory reporting and adherence to company purchasing protocols.
Perform duties as assigned to meet the pient care or operional needs.
OUTCOMES
Administer medicions as ordered by the physician..
Provide pient educion and follow up as needed.
Assist with program's target goals in meeting quality metrics for pient outcomes in accordance with quality pient care and Company goals.
OPERATIONAL
READINESS
Knowledge of and comply with federal, ste, local laws and regulions, including health care professionals practice act requirements.
Perform duties all times within limitions established by and in accordance with company policy and procedures, hospital policy, applicable ste and federal laws and regulions.
Complete wer quality verificion and equipment safety checks prior to each trement, to include second verificion as required.
Complete pre and post trement physical assessments.
Complete pre and post Handoff Communicion with hospital nurses.
Initie and termine pient trements to include connecting and disconnecting cheters and cleaning cheter sites.
Set up dialysis machines; report machine problems to biomedical technician and/or Acute Manager as approprie.
Clean, disinfect and provide quality control of dialysis machines as required by policy and procedures.
Participe in infection control monitoring, implemention, and recording as requested.
Use personal protective equipment as necessary.
Be familiar with emergency equipment and all emergency operional procedures, as required by hospital.

READINESS

Demonstre effective staffing based on acuity, skill mix and company guidelines.
Ensure provision of dialysis reled services such as Hemodialysis, Peritoneal dialysis, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and Plasmapheresis (TPE) if contracted to do so.
Participe in all surveys as required.
Ensure nursing care is carried out as directed and trement is administered in accordance with physician orders.
Ensure approprie and required informion is documented in pient records.
Inform Supervisor, Medical Director or Physician and Hospital Liaison of all incidents, conditions, and concerns reled to pient care, staff and pient safety, and in accordance with company policy.
Prepare and maintain dialysis machines and systems per policy: maintain dialysis records, prepare dialysis wer trement system for use according to established procedure and understand technical operions to troubleshoot problems independently.
Notify Bio-Medical Technician regarding machine or wer trement malfunctions, values out of parameters and document as required.
PARTNERSHIPS
Communice results of pient assessment, reassessment, and ongoing monitoring to the physician.
Maintain collaborive working relionship with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other hospital healthcare professionals.
Actively promote GUEST customer service standards; develop effective relionships all levels of the organizion.
Address pient concerns timely and professionally; following hospital policy.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT/ RETENTION
Participe in staff meetings as required. Attend and complete all company and hospital required in-service and continuing educion.
May delege tasks to competent licensed and unlicensed staff per applicable ste practice act.
Assist with staff training as requested.
Lead staff in team concepts and promote a team effort.
Qualificions/Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty sisfactorily. Requirements include:
- Current RN license in applicable ste or compact. License must be maintained as current and in good standing.
- 12 months or more current nursing experience preferred.
- Previous experience in providing nursing care to pients on dialysis preferred.
- CPR certificion required with hospital approved program
- Ability to pass color screening.
- Demonstred working knowledge of the English language and ability to communice verbally and in writing.
- Must have basic computer skills; proficiency in all USRC clinical applicions required within 90 days of hire.
- Must meet any practice requirement(s) for the applicable ste.
- Ability to meet minimum hospital/agency hiring standards which may include additional background clearances and oriention requirements if applicable to the program assigned to for employment.
