Dixon Correctional Institute is seeking a dedicated and experienced RN Supervisor A to join our healthcare leadership team. This role is essential in ensuring the delivery of high-quality nursing care within a secure correctional environment. Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following: Three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR A bachelor's degree in nursing plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR A master's degree in nursing or public health plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR A doctorate in nursing or public health plus one year of experience as a licensed registered nurse. - Provide comprehensive nursing care to inmates at DCI , ensuring adherence to established clinical protocols, infection-control standards, and correctional healthcare policies while promoting patient safety and well-being.
- Receive, interpret, and implement physicians orders , coordinating with medical staff to ensure timely and accurate execution of treatment plans, medication administration, and follow-up care.
- Conduct regular patient rounds to assess physical and behavioral health , monitor changes in condition, evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing care provided, and ensure all assessments, interventions, and observations are thoroughly documented in accordance with facility and regulatory requirements.
- Manage, organize, and assign nursing duties for the shift , providing direction and support to nursing staff, prioritizing workload based on patient acuity, and ensuring adequate coverage to maintain efficient clinical operations.
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor , offering guidance to nursing personnel, assisting with problem-solving, and promoting professional development and adherence to best practices.
- Ensure compliance with security procedures , collaborating with custody staff to maintain a safe environment while delivering patient care within a secure correctional setting.
- Participate in emergency response efforts, providing leadership during medical emergencies, coordinating staff actions, and ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
Position-Specific Details :
Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE
- Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
- An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
- This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
Compensation: This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $39.12 per hour.
This position also offers premium pay: A rate of $5.00 per hour for each hour worked, in addition to regular pay.
