The Greer Manchester Region has approximely 2,500 employees. It includes Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 249-bed community hospital, Rockville General, a campus of Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 102-bed facility, a large multispecialty provider group and visiting nurse services. The Greer Manchester Region serves a region of 300,000 people in 19 towns.

Utilizing the nursing process, provides high quality direct and indirect pient centered care. Coordines pient care by working collaborively with the interdisciplinary team, pients and families. Communices, as approprie, the pient's clinical condition, responding quickly and accurely to changes in condition or response to trement. Demonstres knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age approprie care to the pient populion served. Promotes the profession of nursing and professional practice through collegial support and interactions. Reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.

Qualificions

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

Must be a gradue of an accredited school of Nursing and have and maintain current a Registered Nurse license in the Ste of Connecticut.

Must have certificion in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscition (CPR) upon hire.

EXPERIENCE:

Previous surgical or labor and delivery, specifically assisting with C-sections, experience required.

COMPETENCIES:

Must be able to communice effectively in English, both verbally and in writing and possess basic computer skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job-Specific Competency

1. Performs populion-specific comprehensive assessments and re-assessments of the pient's condition and care needs including the psychosocial, physical, educional and cultural aspects.

2. Utilizing assessment da, collabores with surgical team to define, implement and evalue an individualized plan of care for each surgical pient.

3. Follows the five (5) medicion rights and reduces the potential for medicion errors. Demonstres knowledge of medicions and their correct administrion based on age of the pient and their clinical condition. Follows Surgical Services policy for medicion safety.

4. Performs all aspects of pient care in an environment th optimizes pient safety and promotes positive pient outcomes; follows ECHN policy for Pient Identificion, Surgical & Invasive Procedures Site Identificion, and Time-Out.

5. Documents the nursing process and responses to care in a timely manner utilizing the approprie tools.

6. Demonstres an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situions. Utilizes critical thinking skills and sound judgment in priority setting and delegion.

7. Demonstres autonomous practice, consistent with evidence-based standards. Pursues personal and professional growth and development. Serves as a professional role model and mentor.

8. Demonstres knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan and the skills necessary to provide age-approprie care to pients served. Able to interpret da about the pient stus in order to identify each pient's age-specific needs and provide care needed by the pient group.

9. Provides an accure and pertinent report of the pient's condition for safe transfer of care.

1. Prepares room in a timely manner with all anticiped instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment for each surgical procedure.

2. Demonstres knowledge of and assures maintenance of aseptic technique throughout the surgical procedure; identifies and communices, to surgical team, any breaks in technique and assists with corrective actions.

3. Effectively communices with the surgeon in accounting for all sponges, needles, and instruments; reports discrepancies immediely to surgeon and Team Leader; appropriely documents all counts.

4. Accurely records, handles, labels and processes specimens.

5. Demonstres ability to effectively function in the scrub role.
