Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting psychiatric patient care as a Medical or Mental Health Assistant for a 13-week assignment, with the possibility for extension based on performance. This position involves hands-on involvement with individuals experiencing acute mental health conditions. Youll be part of a collaborative care team dedicated to making a real difference.
Schedule/Hours:
- Evening shifts (3:00 pm 11:00 pm) available (2 positions)
- Night shifts (11:00 pm 7:00 am) available (4 positions)
- 40-hour work weeks; must be able to work 3 out of 4 weekends per month
- Floating to different units as needed
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year experience, preferably inpatient mental health or nursing experience
- Strong attendance record and reliability required
- Ideal for those pursuing a psych degree, with group home or customer service background, and/or mental health population experience
- No LNA or CNA certification needed
- Successful completion of in-class Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training and passing exam
- All candidates must complete fit testing for N95 respirators and comply with CDC guidelines regarding facial hair
Responsibilities:
- Support and assist nursing and clinical staff in daily patient care
- Observe, engage, and monitor patient well-being, supporting treatment strategies on acute psychiatric units
- Participate in direct patient care under supervision, demonstrating skills learned in orientation
- Contribute to a safe, supportive therapeutic environment through reliable attendance and professionalism
Additional Details:
- Comprehensive, structured four-week orientation: blend of classroom, physical skills training, and on-unit practice
- Partner with experienced MHWs, monitored by a dedicated program coordinator
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 4:24
