Piedmont Athens Regional, a primary Stroke center, is home to a DNV Stroke Certified Neuro Science floor. It is a 30-bed acute care facility th specializes in Stroke, Spinal injuries, head injuries, and pre and post-op surgical needs. The nursing staff are NIHSS-assessment certified and tend the Georgia stroke class curriculum.
This is a fast-paced, inpient unit th cares for pients along the continuum of their recovery. Our team of staff on the Neuro floor is supported by a Stroke Coordinor, PT/OT, Respirory Therapy, Physicians, Case Management, Social Work, Secretary, Phlebotomy, lift team, IV team, STAT team, and Pharmacy. Our comprehensive oriention period pairs both experienced and new staff with a qualified preceptor th helps with goal-setting and training to ensure your success as part of the Neuro Team.
The Neurology unit provides nursing care to pients utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evalue the care for pients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organizion and demonstres professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordining pient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.
Responsibilities:The staff nurse provides nursing care to pients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evalue the care for pients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organizion and demonstres professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordining pient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.
*Pient rios are determined by various factors, including volume and acuity of pient needs. Extenuing circumstances may determine a need for lower or higher rios*
Qualificions: Educion- Gradue from a recognized, accredited school of nursing Required
- Bachelors Degree Preferred
- No experience required New Gradues of a nursing program eligible Required
- Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting Preferred
- 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions Preferred
- RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia Ste Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multiste Licensure Current License in the Ste of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multiste License. Required and
- BCLS - Basic Life Support Required
- Advanced certificion in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)
- Cardiac Tele:Additional Required Certificions:ACLS Certificion - (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certificions within 6 months of start de) within 180 Days Required
- Critical Care:Additional Required Certificions:ACLS Certificion - (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certificions within 6 months of start de) within 180 Days Required
- Dialysis:Additional Required Certificions:CDN (Certified Dialysis Certifice) preferred Preferred
- Emergency Department:Additional Required Certificions:ACLS and PALS Certificion - (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certificions within 6 months of start de)Experienced Emergency Department nurses will have 6 months to obtain the PALS certificion.TNCC and ENPC Certificions required the following hospitals: Piedmont Athens, Piedmont Cartersville, Piedmont Columbus Main Campus, Piedmont Henry, Piedmont Newton, Piedmont Walton (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certificion within 1 year of start de) within 180 Days Required
- Infusion/Oncology:Additional Required Certificions:Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certificion prior to independent chemotherapy administrion Upon Hire Required
