About the role .
What youll be doing.
The Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) serves as the plants medical professional under the general direction of a local Occupational Provider. This role will administer Workers Compensation claims, directly manage the Company's return-to-work program, administer first aid emergency medical treatment in cases of accidents or illnesses, manages Occupational Health Programs such as hearing conservation programs and administers hearing tests as needed, administer wellness programs that are designed to enhance employees health and welfare, and maintains confidential, accurate, and up-to-date medical and Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) records for the location. They will also work closely with the plant general management, taking a proactive approach towards providing a safe working environment. Your day-to-day may consist of:
- Provide direct medical care to employees, including assessment and treatment of work-related injuries and illnesses, administration of immunizations, health counseling, and coordination of medical referrals.
- Develop, implement, and coordinate health and wellness initiatives (such as exercise, smoking cessation, and stress reduction) in collaboration with Health & Safety, Human Resources, and other workplace professionals.
- Conduct and facilitate periodic health and safety training sessions (e.g., first aid, CPR, hearing conservation, blood-borne pathogens, medical surveillance, ergonomics, respiratory protection, and OSHA reporting).
- Administer Workers Compensation benefits and STD/FMLA, support the Return to Work program, monitor employee work restrictions, and liaise with management and claims branches to ensure appropriate treatment and employee transition.
- Oversee general employee health and wellness programs, manage confidential medical communications, conduct pre-employment exams, champion wellness initiatives, and support the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Drug-Free Workplace training.
This role works in a manufacturing environment with potential exposure to loud noises, strong odors, temperature fluctuations, moving machinery, wet or humid conditions, hazardous chemicals, high or confined areas, extreme temperatures, and vibration throughout various facility areas.
What youll need to be successful.
- A 4-year degree in a Registered Nursing program.
- At least 4 years as a licensed nurse with at least 2 years as an occupational health nurse in a manufacturing facility setting.
- The preferred candidate will have exposure to the following: industrial safety programs, ergonomic programs, a variety of health & wellness programs, and Disability/Workers Compensation Laws and policies, including continuous updating of the same.
- Must be able to maintain updated certification for First Aid, CPR & AED, and maintain accreditation for managing the plant's Hearing Conservation program.
- Proven ability to lead and drive sustainable organizational change, build cross-functional teams, and achieve resultsoften in dotted-line reporting situations.
- Skilled in effective communication, influencing across diverse groups (from corporate leadership to front-line staff), and conveying complex regulatory and technical concepts in understandable terms.
- Demonstrates strong leadership, interpersonal, and self-initiative skills in fast-paced environments with minimal supervision.
- Capable of strategic and tactical thinking, swiftly transitioning between both as needed.
- Detailed understanding of Health & Safety and its integration with production, engineering, food safety, quality, and job functions to enable preventative practices.
- Detail-oriented, results-driven, and proficient in verbal/written communication, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving.
- Supports and maintains management systems and leads continuous improvement activities (MDI).
- Proficient with Windows applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experienced with specialized platforms (e.g., Intelex/EMIS).

Compensation Package : $58,800.00 - $78,500.00 . USD annually + Bonus eligibility
