Provide Direct Care Services to high-risk, developmentally disabled adults in a state-licensed residential care environment.
This includes but is not limited to, assisting clients medication and personal hygiene needs; maintaining house rules for the
protection of clients; supervising clients schedules and activities; providing support and behavioral training services; and
documenting clients behavioral activity consistent with the requirements outline in the ISP/IPP and Positive Behavior
Support Plans.
WORK SCHEDULE:
AVAILABILITY: Full-Time/Part-Time, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
HOURS (Shifts):
8:00AM 4:00PM
4:00PM 12:00AM
12:00AM 8:00AM
REQUIREMENTS:
-Minimum 1 year of experience in the role of Direct Support Professional or related field.
-Associates degree preferred and or 2 years of experience working with persons with developmental disabilities, adults with
mental illnesses, or adolescents in Community Care Licensing (CCL) Level 12 or higher, or day programs is preferred.
-DSP Level 1 Certificate within the first with DSP Level 2 Certificate by the second year of employment.
-Possess a valid California Class C Drivers License with a clean driving record.
-Possess valid Adult First Aid and CPR card and can perform emergency first aid and CPR as needed.
-Good Physical Health verified by a health screening and tuberculosis test under the supervision of a physician not more
than one year before, or seven days after employment.
-Fingerprint screening and clearance
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Monitor Client Behaviors:
-Knowledge and practice of the clients IPP (Individual Program Plan) including behaviors, objectives, and interventions.
-Knowledge and practice of the clients BIP (Behavioral Intervention Plan).
-Implement positive behavior and positive behavior support with clients.
Assist with Client Personal Care:
-Direct client care, support, and behavioral training services.
-Provide line of sight and influence supervision.
-Assist with client self-medication and satisfactory completion of documentation in the medication record.
-Provide the care and safety of clients without physical or verbal abuse, exploitation, or prejudice.
-Assist with transportation.
ASSIST WITH CLIENT PERSONAL CARE:
-Assist with dressing, grooming, bathing, and other personal hygiene.
-Arrangement and assistance with medical and dental care.
-Maintain house rules.
-Provide training and development of life activities/skills (i.e. cleaning, bedmaking, laundry, washing dishes, yard work, basic
chores, etc.).
-Monitor food intake or special diets.
-Respond to emergencies and crises by reporting to the Administrator.
Document Client Activity:
-Document all daily behavioral activity consistent with requirements for ISP/IPP reviews and Positive Behavior Support
Plans.
-Document all information pertinent to medication.
-Accurately document all relevant client activity using the Therap program.
Maintain Residence:
-Knowledge of facility policies and procedures.
-Plan and cook meals.
-Assist clients with meal preparation.
-Maintain the overall cleanliness and sanitation of the facility per the house schedule.
-Laundry for facility and clients.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
-Maintain strong and appropriate written and verbal skills.
-Positive relationships with clients, staff, management, and other appropriate persons.
-Attend all facility meetings required.
SHOPPING AND ERRANDS: Running errands, such as grocery shopping, and picking up prescriptions.
TRANSPORATION: Assisting with transportation to appointments or outings.
COMPANIONSHIP AND SUPPORT:
-Providing Emotional Support: Offering companionship and support to clients, listening to their concerns, and helping them
maintain a positive outlook.
-Communication: Communicating with family members and healthcare professionals about the clients needs and progress.
-Documentation: Keeping accurate records of services provided and any changes in the clients condition.
