Renders practical nursing care to patients within assigned area of service; does related work as required. Under the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse, or the Director of Clinical Affairs; the incumbent is responsible for nursing care in accordance with techniques and procedures. Performs tasks and responsibilities within the framework of case finding, health teaching, health counseling, and supportive and restorative care. Supervises and instructs, as required, Medical Assistants, community health workers, and other clerical personnel assigned to the unit.
Essential Duties:
Administers medications as prescribed by a physician
Identifies and reports significant conditions or symptoms to the physician and other team members
Records accurate and concise nurse's notes including temperature, blood pressure, respiration and pulse, medications, treatments, etc.
Assists the family in understanding the need for appropriate medical, hospital, or other care as necessary
Assists in assessing patient nursing care needs
Consult with the RN about individual/family problems
Administers Covid-19 nasal swabs and vaccines
Performs other related duties as assigned
In the absence of the nurse coordinator, will supervise clerical and MA staff
Reports to the nurse coordinator or his/her designee
Qualifications:
Must demonstrate the ability to give medications including injections
Must pass an orientation process
Must possess knowledge of general nursing theory, methods, and techniques involved in the performance of general nursing services
Familiarity with the organization's functions, policies, regulations, and procedures as they relate to nursing services
Demonstrates good communication skills and interpersonal relationships
Has the ability to maintain tact, integrity, patience, and good working relationships
Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New York
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
Must be able to communicate clearly to patients, vendors, and employees of the network
Be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds
Comfortable with frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift
Must be flexible in changing environment
Good oral and written communication skills needed
