The Greer Manchester Region has approximely 2,500 employees. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Registered Nurse of Mernity Services reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager. Utilizing the nursing process, provides high quality direct and indirect pientcentered care. Coordines pient care by working collaborively with the interdisciplinary team, pients and families. Communices, as approprie, the pients clinical condition, responding quickly and accurely to changes in condition or response to trement. Demonstres knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age approprie care to the pient populion served. Promotes the profession of nursing and professional practice through collegial support and interactions.

Qualificions

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/EXPERIENCE:

Gradue of an accredited school of Nursing.

Current licensure in the ste of Connecticut.

Previous LDRP experience preferred.

Must have certificion in ACLS, and NRP upon hire or receive both certificions within a year after hire de and maintain clinical competency during employment with ECHN in this role.

Must have certificion in Basic Cardiac Life Support upon hire or receive certificion within the new employee introductory oriention period and maintain clinical competency during employment with ECHN in this role.

Must have Electric Fetal Monitoring Certificion within a year after hire de.

COMPETENCIES:

Able to communice effectively in English both verbally and in writing

Possesses basic computer skills

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job-Specific Competency

Performs populion-specific comprehensive assessments and re-assessments of the mernal and newborn condition and care needs including the psychosocial, physical, educional, cultural, and spiritual aspects.

Assesses and reassesses pain. Utilizes approprie pain management tools and techniques. Educes the pient and family regarding pain management. Documention reflects assessments, interventions and evaluion of effectiveness.

Develops and revises individualized plans of care as indiced by assessment and pient response to trement. Evalues overall plan daily for effectiveness. Involves the pient and family in the formulion of goals.

Follows the five (5) medicion rights and reduces the potential for medicion errors. Demonstres knowledge of medicions and their correct administrion based on age of the pient and their clinical condition.

Performs all aspects of pient care which includes Labor and Delivery; Postpartum, Well Newborn, Scrub; Circulor; and Level II Newborn in an environment th optimizes pient safety and promotes positive pient outcomes.

Documents the nursing process and responses to care in a timely manner utilizing the approprie tools.

Demonstres an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situions. Utilizes critical thinking skills and sound judgment in priority setting and delegion.

Formules and implements a teaching plan for pients and families based upon identified learning needs. Evalues effectiveness of learning.

Demonstres autonomous practice, consistent with evidence-based standards. Pursues personal and professional growth and development. Serves as a professional role model and mentor.

Demonstres knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan and the skills necessary to provide age-approprie care to pients served. Able to interpret da about the pient stus in order to identify each pients age-specific needs and provide care needed by the pient group.

Provides an accure and pertinent report of the pients condition for safe transfer of care.

Demonstres knowledge of fetal monitoring. Identifies FHR pterns and responds appropriely.

Maintains fetal monitoring competencies by tending two (2) strip reviews and/or one (1) fetal monitoring conference or workshop annually.

Identifies early indicions of inadeque newborn transition to extra-uterine life and responds appropriely while supporting the family unit.
