School Nurse (Licensed Practical Nurse) - Santa Maria, CA

Step into a contract opportunity designed for Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN) interested in school-based care for summer. You'll work onsite, providing essential clinical support for students and staff throughout the summer session. This engaging role involves serving as a primary caregiver for students with medical needs, including catheter care, and supporting field trip activities alongside educational staff. In addition, you may be called upon to join an LVN pool to assist during staff absences or in urgent situations. Your expertise will help create a safe, supportive environment for students during their summer learning.

Key Qualifications:

• Active California LVN license required
• Previous school nursing experience or comfort working with students strongly preferred
• Confident managing catheterization and other routine clinical procedures
• Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently
• Adaptability to support staff and students in various settings, including field trips
• Female candidates are encouraged based on student care needs

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct care to students, including catheter support and daily medications
• Assess and respond to acute student health needs during the school day
• Record accurate health documentation in compliance with school policies
• Assist with health needs on field trips and act as part of a coverage pool
• Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and other care professionals

This position runs June 15, 2026, through July 8, 2026, observing Juneteenth and July 3rd as non-working days. Work hours are 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. You'll gain valuable school nursing experience in a collaborative and rewarding environment.
