JOB SUMMARY
The Nurse Tech position provides nursing students an opportunity to assist licensed nursing personnel in the implementation of day-to-day patient care as well as the routine operations of the nursing unit which assigned. The Nurse Tech provides care to the patients appropriate to the assigned unit.

- IV Insertion and Care
- Attain and Record vital signs
- Glucose Monitoring
- Complete EKGs
- Complete Lab Draws
- Set Up and Restock Unit According to Surgery Type Needs
- Log Patient Belongings
- Learn Preoperative Assessment Skills and Assist with Assessment Charting
- Learn/Use all Unit Appropriate Equipment
- Indwelling Catheter/Toiletry Tasks
- Gain Understanding of Consent and Legality Process Surrounding Surgery
- PACU Nurse Tech Tasks
- IV Insertion and Care
- Attain and Record vital signs
- Glucose Monitoring
- Complete EKGs
- Complete Lab Draws
- Set Up and Restock Unit According to Surgery Type Needs
- Learn Postoperative Assessment Skills and Assist with Assessment Charting
- Learn/Use all Unit Appropriate Equipment
- Learn Airway Management Basics
- Assist RN with Inpatient Transports
- Indwelling Catheter/Toiletry Tasks/Bladder Scanner Utilization
You will have shadow opportunities for the OR at both campuses.
Department hours – no weekend or holidays
North
Pre- Op - 5:30am – 9:30pm
PACU - 8:00am – 9:30pm
Minimum Education
- High school or equivalent
- Completion of first semester of nursing school and in good standing with a nursing program
Minimum Work Experience
- No previous work experience
Required Licenses/Certifications
- CPR-BCLS
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- A Nurse Technician must be a nursing student currently enrolled in and in good standing with nursing program. Nurse Technicians are required to work 48 hours per month.
- Nurse Techs may continue to work in position after graduation of nursing school until they take their NCLEX. This will be reevaluated based on need by unit leadership.
- Nurse Techs may remain in the Nurse Tech role if they are unsuccessful passing the NCLEX on their first attempt. After a second unsuccessful attempt, the Nurse Tech position would be terminated.
