Nurse Aide - SCI Laurel Highlands

The Nurse Aide position with the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Laurel Highlands offers a chance to make a meaningful impact each day. This position focuses on supporting the daily care needs of inmates at SCI Laurel Highlands. It plays an important role in keeping care plans on track and ensuring the safety and comfort of those housed in the facility. As a Nurse Aide, you will perform the following duties:

• Vital Sign Support: Check and record vital signs, height, and weight
• Specimen Collection: Gather urine, feces, and sputum specimens
• Personal Care Assistance: Help inmates with hygiene tasks such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and bed care
• Mobility and Comfort: Assist with lifting, positioning, transferring, and general comfort measures
• Escort and Transport Help: Guide wheelchair inmates to medication lines, tests, and consultations
• Record Management: Record and retrieve information in the electronic health record

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• The Department of Corrections is staffed by 3 work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
  • 1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM; 2nd shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM; and 3rd shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM
  • 8-hour shifts with rotating days off
• Work hours to be determined
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
• Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.

Special Requirement:

• This p osition is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

Additional Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
