The Director of Clinical Services serves as the senior nursing and clinical operations leader for the organization and is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care across all clinical departments.
This role provides oversight of nursing operations, staffing, regulatory compliance, quality initiatives, and clinical team development while partnering closely with hospital leadership, providers, and department managers to support organizational goals and operational excellence.
As part of our collaborative rural healthcare model, the Director maintains a visible clinical presence and may provide direct patient care support within the Emergency Department or inpatient setting during periods of critical staffing need or high patient volume. This hands-on leadership approach helps ensure continuity of care, supports frontline staff, and strengthens team engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Operational Leadership
Provide leadership and oversight for all nursing and clinical service areas.
Promote a culture of patient safety, accountability, teamwork, and service excellence.
Ensure compliance with CMS, Pennsylvania Department of Health, and Critical Access Hospital regulations and standards.
Lead clinical quality improvement, patient safety, and performance initiatives.
Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic planning, operational goals, and organizational growth initiatives.
Monitor clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, staffing effectiveness, and departmental performance metrics.
Staffing & Team Development
Oversee nursing staffing operations, recruitment, retention, orientation, and professional development.
Foster a supportive work environment that encourages teamwork, mentorship, and continuous learning.
Assist in maintaining appropriate staffing coverage and operational continuity within nursing department
Support employee engagement initiatives and positive workplace culture.
Clinical Support Responsibilities
Maintain strong clinical competency in emergency and acute patient care.
Serve as a clinical resource and support leader for nursing staff.
Participate in direct patient care responsibilities when operationally necessary, including occasional support within the Emergency Department or inpatient care areas.
Respond effectively and calmly during urgent or emergent patient care situations.
Qualifications
Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN), Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Minimum of 8 years progressive nursing leadership experience, with at least 3 years in a senior management role.
Proven experience in rural or critical access hospital settings preferred.
Demonstrated expertise in clinical operations, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Experience with quality assurance and performance improvements initiatives.
