Presbyterian is seeking a Labor and Delivery/Mother-Baby RN to provide expert care throughout childbirth and postpartum recovery. In this role, you will oversee patient care, coordinate with healthcare teams, and ensure optimal outcomes for mothers and newborns. Responsibilities include patient education, informed consent guidance, and supporting families in newborn care. You will maintain clinical competency, ensure compliance with hospital policies, and collaborate on care plans. Strong communication, teamwork, and on-call support are essential, as well as supervising home health aides and addressing various patient needs. This position is eligible for the Northern New Mexico differential of $4.00 per hour. (This differential may be adjusted or discontinued based on business requirements.)
Responsibilities:Acts as clinical resource by overseeing the delivery of patient care, directing and delegating assignments based on acuity and staff capability
Maintains clinical competence in providing direct patient care, evaluating outcomes, consulting specialists, and adjusting care processes
Coordinates patient care through collaboration with patients, families, physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and community resources
Demonstrates understanding of care philosophy and provides emotional and informational support to patients and families
Ensures patients understand their rights, responsibilities, advanced directives, and informed consent during admission
Assesses patient and family teaching needs and uses return demonstration and teaching aids effectively in the home setting
Maintains professional responsibility for staying current with nursing research, standards, protocols, and hospital policies
Maintains proficiency in the use of all equipment relevant to nursing practice
Communicates effectively with nursing and interdisciplinary teams, participating in problem solving and conflict resolution
Performs on-call duties including phone triage and in-person visits when necessary
Directs own educational development for top ICD-9 diagnoses including diabetes, wounds, arthritis, newborn care, anticoagulation, nutrition, medication instruction, pain management, and hospice care
Supervises home health aides in compliance with Medicare and Medicaid regulations
Performs other functions as required
