The Nursing Assistant will assist in providing comprehensive therapeutic and preventive clinical services.


  1. Assist in the provision of comprehensive preventative and therapeutic care in an ambulatory health care setting; assist in rooming patients, help identify resources and policies essential for the delivery of quality care; help develop routines and guidelines that will insure continuity and consistency in the provision of care.
  2. Obtain chief complaint/reason for visit and record vital signs including height and weight; make appropriate referrals to other team members or provide the necessary service; record in health record observations, assessment, interventions and therapeutic measure administered; report abnormal results to RN and/or provider immediately.
  3. Prepare for specialty clinics by ensuring necessary supplies and equipment are available and work area set up to accommodate the particular activity; assist in maintaining adequate supplies/inventory and equipment as well as sanitizing  patient care area  and in maintaining a safe environment; ensure equipment is in working order.
  4. Answer telephone in a professional manner, then routing or taking message; cooperate with other clinical department regarding patient care needs; keep supervisor/RN appraised of any areas of concern.
  5. Maintain clean and sterile work environment both during and between patient visits, including but not limited to exam rooms and nursing station; maintain inventory and provide general supplies and materials; perform some clerical tasks, assist with continuity of care.
  6. Adheres to and promotes compliance with applicable laws, safety codes, employee handbook, Vehicle Use and Maintenance Manual, Finance Manual and department policies and procedures.
  7. Must have a positive work history; responsible for maintaining a consistent and regular attendance record.
  8. Other related duties as assigned.


Must be a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), obtaining Idaho certification upon hire. Must have knowledge to identify common disorders, diagnostic tests, assist with diagnostic examination and instruct clients on diagnostic examination preparation. Must have current BLS or obtain within 3 months of hire. Knowledge of history, culture, and health needs of Native American communities preferred. Must be able to work independently, handle conflict and crisis in a professional manner. Must be computer literate, have excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Subject to a background check and pre-employment drug screening. Tribal preference applies.
