Umpqua Community College has an opening for a Shared Nurse Educator / Nurse Educator Associate to join our Nursing Program. This position plays an important role in preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals by providing instruction and mentorship to Nursing Assistant, Practical Nursing, and Registered Nursing students.

Our faculty are committed to facilitating learning using current pedagogy, technology, and discipline-specific expertise. In addition to teaching, faculty members contribute to student success through service, collaboration, and engagement with the college community.

Commensurate with State of Oregon requirements of respective academic and/or technical field:

For nursing faculty, this includes the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Hold at least a baccalaureate degree in nursing.
  • Have the equivalent of a minimum of two years of full-time patient care experience at the registered nurse level.
  • Document competency in teaching through experience, educational preparation, or continuing education.
  • Current unencumbered Oregon RN license.
  • Maintain current knowledge of nursing practice for the registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, and nursing assistant.
  • Be academically and experientially qualified for the level of appointment.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history clearance.
  • Successful completion of a healthcare drug screening.
  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS card by start date.
  • Immunizations and health screenings as outlined by the Oregon Health Authority and required by clinical partners.
  • Proficiency with instructional and industry technology within 6 months (i.e., word processing, e-mail, learning management system, digital and social media, zoom and other online meeting platforms).

Preferred (Not Required) Qualifications:

  • Hold at least a master's degree in nursing or a baccalaureate degree in nursing and master's or doctoral degree in a related field with relevant teaching and nursing experience related to the teaching assignment.
  • Have the equivalent of a minimum of three years of full-time patient care experience at the registered nurse level.
