The Nurse Educor assesses the educional needs of nursing staff, students and others in order to plan and deliver oriention and continuing educion. Serves as a resource by mentoring staff and monitoring/evaluing clinical competencies to assure the highest quality clinical outcomes and safety. Participes in committees to facilite and reinforce the implemention of evidence based care. Ensures th nurses are in full compliance with regulory standards. Acts as a role model to all staff.

Core Job Responsibilities
  • A Nurse Educor is a highly experienced, registered nurse who uses their knowledge, skills and expertise to provide clinical educion and professional development to nursing staff.
  • Plans, develops, implements and evalues educional programs for the staff, the hospital and the community. Contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues through innovive programs in both a classroom setting and on the nursing units. Works collaborively with the Nursing Leadership to assess the educional needs of staff.
  • Identifies the oriention needs of new employees, plans individualized oriention and evalues the employees progress towards achievement of competency. Ensures th new employees are scheduled for hospital and/or unit-specific mandory programs. Documents progress and competency per policy and addresses issues in collaborion with the Nurse Leadership.
  • Assesses the practice of nursing staff and students in their assigned area through direct observion, chart reviews and participion in quality monitors. Develops plans to educe staff based on identified needs to ensure th safe, high quality pient care is consistently delivered.
  • Conducts classes and/or provides individualized instruction. Develops objectives and course outlines for unit in-service programs.
  • May work with Nurse Leadership to develop and implement individualized employee improvement or development plans. Tracks the progression and achievement of competency. Presents results and new or revised action plans to Department Manager when indiced.
  • Investige concerns of nursing practice and keeps current in the lest research in area of expertise.
  • Crees an environment th optimizes pient safety and the quality of care being delivered to our pients. Provides clear and constructive feedback to educe in an effective manner.
  • Works a minimum of one 8 hour shift per month as a direct care RN on an assigned floor as approprie to ensure they keep current with pient care techniques and to help cree a sense of teamwork, transparency and understanding of wh the direct pient care nurse jobs entail.
  • Participes in the development of standards of nursing care practice through participion in assigned committees and workgroups. Works collaborively with other health care professionals and departments.
  • May provide direct pient care. Assists and guides staff in providing quality nursing care.
  • Maintains a high standard of professional responsibility and performance as well as encourages the development of skills in members of the nursing staff.
  • Supports and role models the policies and procedures to ensure the delivery of excellent care and customer service meets or exceeds pient expections. Ensures the delivery of compassione pient centered care th addresses pient and family needs and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Complies with all MVHS and department training and competency requirements.
  • Perform reled duties as required.
Educion/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • Gradue of an accredited school of Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years in area of specialty.

PREFERRED:

  • BSN or MSN.
Licensure/Certificion Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • Current and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in NY Ste.

PREFERRED:

  • AHA BLS and/or ACLS Instructor certificion.
  • Certificion in area of specialty.
