The Registered Nurse promotes and restores pient's health by completing the nursing process: collaboring with Physicians and multidisciplinary team members: providing support to pients, visitors and families. Responsible for assessing, planning, promoting and evaluing quality pient care. The Registered Nurse provides teaching to pients, families and the public. The Registered Nurse will follow the mission, vision, values, policies and procedures of Mohawk Valley Health System.
Core Job Responsibilities- Identify pient care requirements establishing personal rapport with pients and families and understanding of plan of care throughout the pients experience.
- Establish a compassione environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to pients, friends and families.
- Promote pient independence by establishing pient care goals; teaching pient, friends and family to understand disease process, medicions, and self-care skills, and provide time to answer questions.
- Assure quality care by adhering to therapeutic standards measuring health outcomes against pient care goals and standards; making or recommending adjustments to the pients needs.
- The nurse is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the approprie delegion of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligion to provide optimum pient care.
- Ensure operion of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements following manufacturers instructions troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs; maintaining equipment, inventories, and evaluing equipment and techniques.
- Protect pients, employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols, medicion administrion and controlled substance regulions. Utilize universal precautions and practice all times.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures rules, and regulions; calling for assistance from health care staff.
- Document pient care service by charting in pients medical records accurely and timely in accordance with licensure and regulory/hospital standards.
- Maintain continuity of care with the nursing team by communicing plan of care and follow through with multidisciplinary team ensuring th pient administrion of care for all services provided are organized, planned and delivered.
- Maintain pient confidence and protect operions by keeping informion confidential.
- Maintain nursing supplies inventory checking stock to determine inventory and PAR level; anticiping needs supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies; using equipment and supplies; using equipment to accomplish job.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by tending educional workshops, mandory in-services; reviewing professional publicions; establishing personal networks; participing in professional societies.
- The nurse participes in the advancement of the profession through contributions to practice, educion, administrion, and knowledge development.
- Engage in quality improvement initiives including continuing educion, participion in hospital-wide and unit specific teams, identifying nursing practice areas for quality improvement and safe outcomes.
- Maintain a cooperive relionship among the healthcare team by communicing informion; responding to request; building rapport; participing in team problem solving.
- Provide service excellence to pients and their families/visitors th meets or exceeds pient expections through offering emphetic and compassione pient-centered care.
- Professionally manage pient and family/visitor needs and concerns using AIDET and positive service recovery methods.
- Respond to pient requests and makes active referrals to subject mter expert/decision maker who can fulfill the pient request
- Provide culturally sensitive care.
- Meet all MVHS and department competencies and training requirements.
- Perform other duties as required.
REQUIRED:
- Gradue of an accredited nursing program with an associes degree.
PREFERRED:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing from accredited nursing program or higher degree.
- One or more years of experience in reled setting.
REQUIRED:
- Current New York Ste licensure as a Registered Nurse
PREFERRED:
- Basic Life Support certificion.
