Summary
The Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse perform nursing functions within the scope of practice and provides and/or coordinates care and services to meet the residents' physical, psychosocial, and functional care needs. This is a full-time, day-shift position working three 12-hour shifts - no weekends.
Job Responsibilities
Communication with client support services and families.Provides nursing care and monitoring of detox clients.Monitoring and documentation of client vital signs.Providing nursing assessments and consultation.Practices nursing care within the scope of licensure and in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act; Keeps a current active license; Follows state and federal licensure rules and regulations for the level of care in which they practice and in accordance with HH clinical and administrative policies and proceduresWorks collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team in defining individualized plans of care for each patient; Works closely with nursing leadership to ensure regulatory compliance; Promotes individual and team learning and provides teaching and role modeling of professional nursing practices to staff for quality clinical carePasses medication and/or oversees the medication ordering and administration process; Administers medications and treatments to residents; monitors administration of I.V. fluids, supplemental nourishments, and medications when ordered; I.V. certified nurses may initiate I.V. therapyMaintains a working knowledge and understanding of the observation/assessment and documentation process for the level of licensure in which they work, including care and service plans.Utilizes the electronic medical record to capture full clinical documentation in accordance with policy and procedures Observes patient status as necessary to assure quality care; Coordinates with other patient services; Documents medical information and maintains detailed, timely, and accurate reportsMaintains a safe, comfortable, and functional environment by assessing potential hazards; Implements practices to maintain optimum safetyOversees and directs the certified staff and others assigned to ensure the standards of care and services are providedPerforms rounds according to established schedule, Documents patient progress, changes in condition, etc.Reports and supports investigative protocols as it relates to staff or patient incidents and/or accidents in accordance with state and federal regulations
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Computer skills are sufficient to access email, internet, and to document in client's medical record.Ability to stand for extended periods of time.Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.Good customer service skills.RN licensure in state of practiceGraduate of an accredited/approved nursing schoolBSN preferredMust be CPR certified
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Mobility & Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the workday.Lifting & Carrying: Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds independently and occasionally more with assistance (e.g., moving patients or equipment).Dexterity & Coordination: Requires fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination to administer medications, operate medical equipment, and perform clinical procedures.Vision & Hearing: Adequate vision and hearing (with or without corrective devices) to monitor patient conditions, read charts, and respond to alarms or verbal instructions.Communication: Must be able to clearly communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, with patients, families, and healthcare staff.Other Physical Demands: Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching when assisting patients or using equipment.Environment: Work performed in a healthcare facility, including patient rooms, treatment areas, and nursing stations.Exposure: Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and bodily fluids.Pace & Stress: Requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions, emergencies, and high levels of responsibility.Schedule: May include day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts, with potential for overtime depending on patient care needs.Teamwork: Frequent collaboration with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary staff; requires professionalism, empathy, and adaptability in stressful or emotional situations.
